Well, at least done enough to send to the publishers. Earlier today, I e-mailed it off to Barbara Lalicki, my editor at Harper US, and she's going to send it along to Nick Lake, my editor at Harper UK.
Sending a book off always feels like the end of a process when, in fact, it's really sort of the beginning. There will be revisions and then revisions on the revisions but, for now at least, I get to breathe a little sigh of relief and relax for a couple days.
I'll tell you this much, though -- as much as I know that hard work lies ahead, it's still really nice to type the words: THE END.
Now that I've finished up this draft, I'm going to make an effort to get back to blogging a little more. There's a bunch of cool events coming up, which reminds me -- if you're in LA this weekend and planning on going to the LA Times Festival of Books at UCLA, I'll be signing NIGHTMARE ACADEMY on Saturday at 12:30 at the Book Soup Booth, which is located between Royce Hall and Powell Library.
Hopefully, I'll get a chance to see a few of you there. :)
Take care...

Hope to see you (even in passing) Saturday. Also, there's an LA YA get-together at the Luxe Hotel on Sunset that evening. You should come over!
I know you've probably said it before, but when is that Book 2 going to hit the shelves? I'm sure all the kids can't wait to get their hands on it. :)
Shall we plan to whimper together at BEA? Melissa D tells me that my signing was changed to right after the breakfast, so my schedule Saturday at this point reads, "See Dean. See Dean sign. See Dean for tea/coffee/drink?"
I'll come early and hopefully catch you at your signing. Oddly enough, I have a radio interview that morning at 8am. NA 1 publishes in Australia then and a local Australian radio station is calling me at home for a chat. I'll leave for BEA right after!
As noted before, I'm looking forward to meeting you in Tulsa!
So... I just need to see what's going to happen. I'll definitely let you know when I know. :)
BTW, we are playing Oh Hell and wishing you were here!
-Rebecca =)
I'd love to see you guys. I'm trying to figure out my schedule for BEA right now, but dinner on Friday sounds good. I'll give you a call in a bit and we can make a plan...
